Content: Required documents when applying for an ESL job.

 

 

Whether your applying for an ESL teaching job or applying for the proper working visa in Asia you will be asked to submit documents to the employing school as well as the government in your country and the government you plan to teach in.


Asia - Most Common Documents Needed

Resume/ Cover Letter/C.V.
Passport/Passport Copy
Photos (4x6 and passport sized photos)
Degree/Diploma
Certificates (CELTA, TESOL TEFL, TESL, etc.)
References
Reference Letters (usually two)

China - Required Documents


Z VISA
- You must have an invitation from your school
- a copy of your diploma
- a locally obtained health check for absence of HIV, drug use, TB and other things
- 8-10 passport photos.


THE RESIDENT PERMIT
- Z Visa

 

 

Japan - Required Documents

Certificate of Eligibility.
- Original degree
- Photocopy of passport and stamps or previous visits.
- Signed contract
- Six passport photos
- Flight plan
- CELTA / TESOL course certificate

Working Visa
- Certificate of Eligibility.
- Photocopy of the Certificate of Eligibility
- 1-5 passport size photos
- processing fee

 

 

Korea - Required Documents

Working Visa
- Original or notarized degree by the Korean embassy in your country
- Contract signed by employer and employee
- Original transcript
- Copy of your resume
- Photocopy of the information page
- Two passport-size photos

Notarized Degree

By Mail
- Letter requesting diploma confirmation
- Original diploma and 2 copies
- Diploma confirmation fee (money order payable to Korean Consulate General) *Due to possible changes in fees, call the nearest Korean Embassy or Consulate. Look in the left link bar under embassies in... to find the korean consulate nearest you.
- A copy of your passport (also include copies of your driver's license, health card etc.)
- If you are requesting that your notarized degree be returned by mail, send a self addressed stamped envelope. (If you will pick it up yourself, you don't need to send this.)

In Person

- Original diploma
- Identification (passport, driver's license, health card, etc.)
- Diploma confirmation fee
