WHAT IS RSS?
The Basics - RSS, Really Simple Syndication
or Rich Site Summary, allows you to receive the latest updates
from a website or websites directly on your desktop without
having to open your browser and visit the actual site.
Why is RSS useful? - If you are like the
millions of other internet users, you have several websites
you check everyday for their latest updates. If you have 2-3
maybe you don't find it much of a hassle but what if you had
or wanted to check for updates on say 10 sites or 20 sites
or even more... now that might take up some time. Well now
you can check 10, 20 or more sites everyday with RSS feeds.
By downloading the correct software, an aggregator, or using
an online news reader such as Google Reader, you can simply insert
the RSS feed address from each of your favorite sites and
have all the latest information from that site is automatically
updated in your aggregator or news reader. Nice!
RSS, known as Really Simple Syndication
or Rich Site Summary, is a means of sharing content that is
regularly updated without requiring readers to constantly
visit a website to see what's new.
RSS feeds, contain titles, short descriptions,
and links to articles in their "full-version format" or webpages,
there is also a linked reference back to the site the RSS
feed originates from.
