CHINA - China Tax year –
Jan.1 to Dec. 31. China Tax Rates
- 9 progressive rates, ranging from 5% to 45%. Tax
Items - Value Added Tax (VAT) - services
of processing, replacement and repairs, the tax rate is 17%,
selling or importing grains, edible vegetable oil, coal gas,
natural gas, coal or charcoal products for household use,
books, newspapers, magazines, chemical fertilizers, agricultural
chemicals, agricultural machinery, etc., the tax rate is 13%,
for taxpayers exporting goods, except as otherwise stipulated

KOREA - Korean Tax Year
- June 1 - May 31 . Korean Tax Rates
- 5% - 10% . Korean taxpayer classifications
(a)Resident: A person who has had
a domicile in Korea for one year or more. Someone who has
a job that requires them to live in Korea for a year or more
is considered to have a domicile. - A resident is subject
to being taxed from sources within and outside of Korea. (b)Non-Resident:
A person who is not a Resident of Korea. -A Non-Resident is
only subject to income tax on income made within Korea. Most

Anyone who spends more than 6 months of fiscal year on Japanese
soil. Japanese taxpayer classifications
(a)Resident: Have an address in
Japan and have lived in the country continuously for one year
or more. (i) Non Permanent Residents: Have had an address
in Japan continuously for not more than five years, but has
no intention of permanently residing in the country (ii) Permanent
Resident: All residents other than non-permanent residents
(b)Non resident: Not a resident

TAIWAN - Taiwan Tax Year
- Jan. 1 – Dec.31. Taiwan Tax Rates
- 6% - 40% - based on earnings (13% avg. for teachers). Taxing
Wages * 20% is normally taxed from pay for the
first 183 days of the tax year.* The 183 days are calculated
by the date you arrive, not from when you get your ARC. *
The counting is cumulative. If you leave country and return,
the time before you left and the time after you return is
